Classmate Critique

Welcome back to the vault, today I found two classmates within my 8th period who have some very interesting camera shots I'd like to share. First being Jadelyn Rodriguez, in 11th grade. And Tiffany Hu, in 10th grade. Starting with Jadelyn, the shots I looked at from her blog was her full body shot and overhead shot.  The full body shot had shown the entire body and the background. Emotions I felt from this were focus, on the character and only what she was doing at the moment. Long shots/Full body shots are meant to evoke the feeling of focus on that characters body language especially, and a little less on the background. Overhead shot was the next shot that had shown the top heads of four characters having a conversation. What I felt during this scene that I had power to understand everything around them. As I could see the top and they couldn't I could also equally in a powerful manner see everyone in the shot. Moving onto Tiffany Hu, she used a extreme close up shot and wide shot. Firstly using the wide shot, it had shown two character but from a far distance. The two characters in the middle had been doing an action of skipping but it didn't matter because the background seemed more essential to what was happening. Lastly the extreme close up, had shown many a flower in detail. As in, every movement and petal was shown detail. The emotions that came to be at first was an observation feeling. I felt very happy to examine the small things within this object.

camera shots & angles

Establishing Shot
While filing this shot I had to get onto a high surface to capture full essence of the setting. I was trying to show the setting of what I was filming so the audience could understand more of what was happening.

Close up
This was supposed to show the audience of what was happening, basically a following scene of what was happening in the establishing scene. This eases the audience into what is happening. I had to walk along with the actors and record closely towards the ground.

Extreme close up
What happens in this scene is supposed to show the audience the key detail go her falling. It's meant to be big impact on the story as it focussing on only one thing and nothing else. Which is the girl falling. I had to squat down and really stay still to film this.

Full shot
This is so the character can be focused on but now we see the background and her. So there is a balance of what is happening between her and the surroundings. I had to step father away from the character but and bend a little so I could film her whole body from head to toe in the frame.
Wide shot
Notice how in this shot the character is a lot farther form the scene and the audience feels distant from her and it now focussing on how the background is. This resembles the relationship of how the character is lost and does't feel herself and how the setting is taking over her. I simply just had to film farther away and capture the character in the middle. Honestly, easiest scene to film.

They just seem the most appealing. I also am in Taekwondo and enjoy working out, especially if my friends are there, I have been trying to get more into reading and running as I'm trying to improve myself this school more than ever. I live with my dad, mom, little brother, and Pearl (my cat whom is mixed with calico and rag doll breed).  I also love music with a strong passion, I mainly listen to Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Melanie Martinez, The Beatles, The smiths, Nirvana, and Bruno Mars.

Why I chose this class

Why I chose this class was mainly because me being in Cambridge, I need 7 passed Cambridge classes. I've heard very positive things about it from my friends at other schools and kids at EHS. So based on my recommendations, I chose this class not only fulfill my credit but to have fun and myself already makes little skits for fun with friends or alone. I'm also very excited to make the component in which a filming video is made, overall this soul purpose of me being in this class is to be have fun and still ace my Aice credit.
